Chart-topping band, Shinedown, just released their new music video for their song “Dead Don’t Die” from their 2022 album Planet Zero. The song is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of humans amid trying times.

“‘Dead Don’t Die’ is the first song I think any of us had ever brought in completed that really didn’t go through some sort of major change. (Truly one of the greatest feelings I’ve had in this band.) I’m never a fan of talking about what songs mean because I feel like you put them in a box…”

guitarist Zach Myers said about the new track. Songs are always fun when they’re open to interpretation and how it applies to the listener’s life, rather than just how the artist intended. See the video below.

The video for the song shows the members of Shinedown dealing with threatening things such as knives suspended in air pointed directly at their face, interlaced with shots of the band playing the song in a gorgeous space. The security camera and drones lean into the post-apocalyptic atmosphere they built through the other visuals for the album like the video for the title track.

The dead don’t die, the heart still beats. Head held high, I haunt these streets. Life’s killed me a hundred thousand times.” The band talked about how the song is supposed to make you feel like you can run through a wall, or at least feel powerful, and the lyrics Myers wrote definitely forces you to feel.

This song will absolutely translate well live amid songs such as “Sound of Madness”, “Enemies”, and “Cut the Cord”. The band is set to announce touring for 2023 soon with only one festival so far on the docket. Keep an eye out for what Shinedown has in store for us!
