FIVE ACTS TO WATCH AT HANGOUT 2023

FIVE ACTS TO WATCH AT HANGOUT 2023

Gulf Shores’ yearly music festival, Hangout, has become something we look forward to every festival season. Set directly on the beach Hangout has a way of feeling more like a destination event than just another festival. The last time we were able to make it down was 2018 and after seeing the schedule for this year we could not be more excited to return. This year boasts acts like Paramore, SZA, Lil Nas X, and Red Hot Chili Peppers and while they are all phenomenal and will certainly be in our recap we want to highlight some of the lesser known artists in the bunch.

Here are five acts you HAVE to see at this year’s Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, AL.

Priscilla Block

Priscilla Block’s Welcome To The Block Party has led some to label her as the party girl of country music today but this girl has grit. Priscilla moved to Nashville right after high school but  it was 2020 when “PMS” and “Thick Thighs” catapulted her to the limelight. That position was recently secured with her duet with Justin Moore “You, Me, and Whiskey”. Priscilla recently performed at Georgetown, Texas’ inaugural Two Step Inn and we can guarantee she puts on one hell of a show.

Noah Kahan

Noah Kahan’s 2022 record Stick Season has garnered the artist a lot of attention since it’s October release. Kahan’s video of “Orange Juice” performed live has garnered over a half million views since it was uploaded to YouTube three months ago. If you want to feel something I suggest catching Kahan’s set on the SHEIN Surf Stage Sunday afternoon.

Yung Gravy

We’ve been listening to Yung Gravy since the release of Sensational in 2019 - tipped off by his collaboration with bbno$. We can’t wait to see his live performance and are hoping for some deep cuts from past records.

Daniel Nunnelee

Embarrassingly we were introduced to alt-folk artist Daniel Nunnelee while doing research for this article. His music is touching and authentic…shouting in hushed voices.

Aluna

Aluna made her way to our radar when she was part of the electronic duo AlunaGeorge. In 2020 Aluna decided to embark on a solo venture with the release of Renaissance. Fueled by optimism and brightly hued electro-pop Renaissance is captivating front to back.

Laura is a midwest born southern bred photographer and journalist living in the live music capital of the world, Austin, TX. She loves Dolly Parton, a good thrift, and her Blue Heelers Hank Williams Junior Jr. and Angus.
