MANCHESTER BASED BAND FLOWERS OF EVIL STRUT NEW SINGLE "MOP THE FLOOR"

Manchester, England  based queer industrial dance-pop project, Flowers of Evil recently released their new single “Mop the Floor” with a feature from Maria Uzor of Sink Ya Teeth. The band is composed of Oscar Puente, Phia Sky, and Ted Booth. This song shows what the band is the best at: hypnotic synth pop and the haunting delivery of lyrics from Puente.

Vocalist and lyricist Oscar Puente says of “Mop The Floor”,

“This song is the peak of lyrical nonsense. It talks about a dream I had where a few copies of myself were arguing with each other in a big empty room about ways to approach the action of mopping the floor in this immense space. The whole dream had a sense of contradiction, disrespect and chaos which we wanted to translate into song; hence the use of frantic, building soundscapes.”

The song can be interpreted as the meaning Oscar put behind the lyrics or as a comment on the methods of tackling the mundanity of repetition, and welcoming in chaos to disrupt convention.

The band recently released a music video for the song. The video shows two people fighting opposite each other via dance and it was filmed in simple black and white that gives it more of a tone.

This band is definitely one to watch as they continue to hone their sound since forming in 2020.
