THE STORY SO FAR AT VIBES EVENT CENTER IN SAN ANTONIO

What do you get when you announce a stacked pop-punk tour to a city that’s waited years for such a lineup? A show that sold out months in advance and a room full of hyped-up fans ready to crowd surf all night. That’s exactly what The Story So Far got at the San Antonio show of their 2022 spring tour with Joyce Manor, Mom Jeans, and Microwave.

Microwave opened the show and got things warmed up with a good mix of high energy and mellow tracks. Mom Jeans were up next and fans were hyped as soon as the members took the stage. There was even a chant of, “ Mom Jeans, Mom Jeans” during the changeover and soundcheck. The band played a set filled with songs from their newest album before concluding with a few classics that really got the crowd going.

Up next was Joyce Manor. The crowd really enjoyed the high-energy set as the band cranked out song after song, setting the stage for The Story So Far.

Much to everyone’s surprise, The Story So Far came out on a mellow note when they opened with their biggest hit, “Clairvoyant”. The band got everyone in their feels and belting out the lyrics right from the jump. It was an interesting contrast to the typical high-energy entrances that most bands make. That’s not to say that there wasn’t any high energy though, because the band quickly jumped into “Keep it Up” and “Roam”, a fan favorite from their debut album, before launching into a 1.5-hour career-spanning setlist.

It’s not often that bands play a setlist that pleases everyone, but I think the Story So Far did just that on this tour. From songs like “Things I Can’t Change” to “Heavy Gloom”, or “Quicksand”, there was really no part of the setlist that was a letdown. Fans were moving and singing along from start to finish.

For the folks in San Antonio, it was over two years since they’d seen TSSF come through the city, but after this night, you can be sure that this city will be a highlight for the band for years to come.
