WHILE SHE SLEEPS AT GRAMERCY THEATER IN NEW YORK CITY

Two years later, New York City welcomed 5-piece English band, While She Sleeps, back to the stage. Boy, they did not disappoint. On Saturday night, hundreds of fans gathered inside Gramercy Theater for their headlining show supported by Gideon and Foreign Hands.

As showtime approached, the lights shut off and the excitement in the room was beyond palpable. In a slowly crescendoing roar, you heard the audience enthusiastically cheering, “While She Sleeps! While She Sleeps!” as the band approached the stage to give the fans what they came for; a damn fine show. The band kicked off their performance with an electrifying display of their talents in the form of their eponymous song, “SLEEP SOCIETY”. This was a wonderful taste of what was to come.

Song after song, the band continued to display their raw musicianship by means of violent chugs, melodic ballads, and brutal breakdowns. The crowd engaged with the music on such a thrilling level. There were walls of deaths, push pits, and even push-up pits. Yes, you read that right. Members of the audience got on the ground in the middle of the mosh pit to perform push-ups to the music. One by one, more people decided to join in and tag team their workout.

While She Sleeps weren’t afraid to show their appreciation for their New York fan base either. A fan, holding a sign throughout the show, was brought on stage with the band to play bass guitar for the song “You Are We”.  If you had walked in right at that moment to see While She Sleeps for the first time, you would not have known the fan wasn’t a part of the band. The energy they brought on stage was contagious and incredibly effortless on their part. The crowd responded with pure excitement to the enthusiasm in front of them.

The same way the night began was how it ended, with a final track, “SYSTEMATIC”,  off their latest self titled album. Their performance left the crowd satisfied for what they came for. If you have the chance, make sure you catch them on their North American headlining tour, you will not be disappointed.
