TAVANA RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR SINGLE "PLASTIC ISLAND"

Hawaiian artist Tavana released a video last month for his new single, “Plastic Island” off his latest record, Sway. The song features Paul Izak and was inspired by his former manager, Al Smith’s, passion for beach clean ups and hopes to highlight Hawaii’s plastic problem. His goal was to unite the listeners to find more sustainable solutions and realize the seriousness of the issue. For this song, Tavana partnered with two environmental non-profits, Surfrider Foundation and Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation

Lauren Blickley of Surfrider Foundation stated that,

“In the past, our [Hawaii] beaches were comprised of natural materials like driftwood and shells. Today, many of these natural materials have been replaced with plastic - a material that is responsible for the large-scale pollution of our ocean and environment.”

The song is catchy and has a message for companies big and small to look into better ways to create sustainable packaging so that plastic bottles, wrappers, and the like do not end up in the oceans and washing up all over the world further polluting beaches.  ‘Plastic Island’ can be found on Tavana’s new album, Sway, and on all streaming services.

To achieve the stop motion video, Tavana partnered with Hawaii-based collective Three Tree Creative and multi-dimensional artist Charles-Antoine Vallieres. From the beginning of the video, it aims to bring awareness to the plastic problem.
