Toronto rising pop artist, Alex Frew has definitely given us something to hold us over until the release of his upcoming EP with the new single, “Something to Hold On To”. This song narrates life from the perspective of a vice latching onto an individual who needs it most. The song has a dream-like feel despite dealing with such serious topics.

“This is a viewpoint that I have always wanted to explore in my songwriting,” Alex Frew says. “It’s asking: ‘If my addictions had the ability to speak, what would they say?’” As an artist, this is how Frew is navigating the trials of mental illness and addiction.

Navigating mental illnesses like depression and anxiety are themes Frew has explored before through his other singles, “Get Out Alive” and “Anti-Social Love Club”. These three songs document Alex Frew’s experiences with growth, change, self-discovery, confusion, unrest and dread.
