I 8 MONDAYS #3: A WEEKLY PLAYLIST

Because

  • (almost) everyone hates Mondays

  • new brilliant and amazing music comes out every Fridays and you don’t (always) have the time to look for it during the week-end

  • we HAD to share our favorites with you

We will bring to you 10 songs that we loved every week. This is our point of view as European and French music lovers. Here are our first picks, in no particular order.

Inhaler (IE) – We Have To Move On

Rock phenomenon directly coming from Ireland, Inhaler released banger after banger since the beginning of their young career. Their new single, “We Have to Move On”, features some delicious 90’s indie rock vibes with modern synth waves. 2020 might be the year of their first album. Go see them live if you have the chance; we promise you that you will not regret it!

Tribe Friday (SWE) – Talk So Loud

We discovered this young band from Sweden with their brilliant, energetic single “Sixteen Minutes” that remained one of our favorite tracks from 2019. Since then, we are keeping an eye out for their newest releases. “Talk So Loud” is another amazing track of indie rock, infused with wild saturated guitar riffs and frenzied drums.

Mystery Jets (UK) – Petty Drone

The new Mystery Jets album, A Billion Heartbeats finally has a new release date! It was announced with a new single, “Petty Drone. True to their inspirations for this new record, the track holds a strong political claim that comes with strong and loud guitar lines. After 6 months of waiting, this 6th album can’t come soon enough.

The Snuts (UK) – Fatboy Slim

The first snippet of their future Mixtape EP that will come out 13th March, “Fatboy Slim” is a joyful, indie rock track. With beautiful sing-alongs at the end of the chorus, this song will surely be a highlight of their future live shows. We simply love the bass line behind these, “Lalalalalalalalala”s.

APRE (UK) – Your Heart’s Like A Jungle

Prolific duo from Kent, APRE put out amazing songs one after another. “Your Heart’s Like a Jungle” is no exception, with a catchy chorus and a soothing keyboard melodic lead line. The song is about the frustration when feeling lost in a relationship that matters a lot, and gives just the right amount of emotions and comfort when listening to it.

The Avener ft. Manu Lanvin (FR) – Run Away With Me

Who would have thought The Avener’s electro pop would fit so perfectly with the raspy voice of Manu Lanvin? We, for sure, wouldn’t have bet on it but, this song is a hit in the making! It’s both super catchy, thanks to its very simple yet thoughtful beat, and quite sexy, thanks to the deep dark fry of Lanvin. The only drawback of “Run Away With Me” is the riff with which it ends. How can it be so short?

Andy Shauf (CA) – Neon Skyline

It’s unsure whether “Neon Skyline” is a song, or an invitation to a gentle stroll along a busy street. With its round rhythmic line and its gentle guitar strumming, it can only draw smiles on people’s faces. Is that what spring sounds like?

Asgeir (IS) – Until Daybreak

Behind the apparent simplicity of “Until Daybreak” lies one of the most intricate melodic constructions of the past month. The soft voice of Asgeir mixes incredibly with a delicate electro melody and some serious beats. Beautiful.

Twin Atlantic (UK) – Oh! Euphoria

“Oh! Euphoria” sounds like a teenager speaks. It’s insolent, almost annoying, and yet, so right it’s infuriating. With its saturated melody, daring beat, and blunt lyrics, it’s the ideal song to listen to in an overcrowded club after a week that’s been way too long!

Hey Hey My My (FR) – The One I Call

“The One I Call” is probably the closest to a campfire song you’ll find in this playlist, yet it’s been beautifully executed and is quite possibly the most charming song in this playlist. With its raw honesty and its gorgeous falsetto, it’s a song not to be missed!
