KIM PETRAS AT LE TRIANON IN PARIS

KIM PETRAS AT LE TRIANON IN PARIS

Do not mind the fact that the concert took place on a Sunday night; every single person gathered at Le Trianon just had one goal in mind: party, and party hard. First hint - the opener of the night. Alex Chapman was the perfect DJ for this first hour. All the hits from the 00’s and the 10’s of the electro-pop culture were blasted through the venue. The crowd was more than ready to party and it was the prefect occasion for me to climb the stairs to admire the show from above. I love Le Trianon for this very reason - the view from the top of the stands is amazing, even more so when everybody is already so keen on singing and dancing.

“The Clarity Tour” was the perfect occasion for the German singer to reinforce her position as a transgender pop star. Her personal journey is a strength for her musical career and she gathered lots of fans thanks to her will to speak openly about her identity. Her first studio record, Clarity, brought her all over Europe and in the USA for an extensive tour.

This night, for her second Parisian show, she stepped up her staging game. With a brilliant light show, small staircase on the stage, platform, and multiple shiny outfits, the show is total. Even if her new album featured more personal songs, with introspective lyrics, most of her tracks remained cut for the dancefloor. The spectators were well aware of this fact. They were dancing, singing along, and jumping to the best of their abilities since the first note of the concert, and they kept on doing so until the very last one.

Stepping outside of her comfort zone, she played a cover from The Killers. With a quite beautiful acoustic version of “Human”, she showed that her influences are not limited to only the pop style.

The pop industry is currently facing a strong competition from the hip hop and rap industry, even more in France, but Kim Petras clearly established that night that she is part of this successful group of pop singers still very much in trend. From La Maroquinerie to Le Trianon, almost sold out, in 6 months, her popularity is fast rising in France.
